Special Update: The Sudden Closure of Marine Group

This is a special, unscheduled post. On January 31st, news that shocked the Japanese Soapland industry broke: all establishments under the Marine Group have permanently ceased operations.

Marine Group was a major player in the industry, with multiple locations across Tokyo—including Ikebukuro and Shinjuku—as well as several branches in Chiba, Saitama, and Kumamoto, etc. Based on my personal experience, the quality of their service and their business operations were excellent.

Even the cast soapland girls were only notified on the day of the announcement, and all locations were shuttered the very next day. Today, I checked their website and everything has been replaced by 404 errors; all the history, reviews, and fond memories have vanished.

How this affects us: Several cast soapland girls and shops in Ikebukuro mentioned in my catalog, as well as a shop in Shinjuku, are no longer able to provide services.

Having followed this industry for many years, I have never seen a situation of this magnitude. I know that Soapland licenses are incredibly difficult to obtain, so it’s baffling that no one stepped in to take over the business. It makes me wonder—could this sudden collapse be related to the recent sharp drop in gold, silver, and Bitcoin? Did the group’s owner perhaps lose the company’s capital on high-leverage trading? lol

Regardless of the cause, this is deeply saddening news. Some of my frequently visited Soaplands have been affected, and I may never see the girls there again.

I will update my catalog as soon as possible. In the meantime, please be aware that all Marine Group locations are now closed.
